When a response is under the control of a single stimulus, he can usually identify the stimulus and the controlling relation in answering such a Question as Why did you say that? He is usually aware of what he is talking about in the sense of being prepared for such a question. But it is only in a very advanced verbal community that questions are ever raised about multiple sources of strength, which frequently pass unnoticed. (p. 242)
